Highlighting the importance of logistics workers
Logistics professionals are categorised as 'key workers' in the government's COVID-19 response plans.
While many businesses are able to work from home, the logistics industry is working tirelessly to enable the country to function, whether that's replenishing food stocks at supermarkets, or delivering vital medicine and protective gear to the frontline.
It really does highlight how important this work is - from the management of fleets, to the maintenance of vehicles, to the drivers themselves, it's a slick operation that our country depends on.
In our Commercial GreenFleet supplement, we look at the amazing work the logistics industry is doing, as well as industry calls to delay the implementation of certain legislation (clean air zones, London Direct Vision Standard, Brexit transition), so that it can concentrate on responding to the pandemic.
This issue of GreenFleet also has our Road to Electric report. With experts saying that 2040 is too late to phase out petrol and diesel vehicles, the government is mulling over plans to bring it forward to 2035. This will focus fleets' attention even further on transitioning to electric vehicles. Our report summaries the UK's zero-emission plans, looks at EV incentives, and offers workplace charging advice.
