THE REALITIES OF TERROR

Alongside addressing the many priorities, trends and techniques in detecting and combating terrorism, the Global Counter Terror & Serious and Organised Crime Summit at International Security Expo 2021 will take time to explore the realities of terror.

We are extremely grateful to be joined by a handful of speakers who will provide their own first-hand account of the impact terrorism has had on their lives, letting us better put into focus how we can work to counter it. You do not want to miss these talks.

The personal impact of being poisoned by the Russian GRU

Retired Detective Sergeant Nick Bailey was the first person to enter the home of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal in March 2018, leaving him poisoned with the nerve agent Novichok. His family was featured in the BBC series 'The Salisbury Poisonings' and he will be joining us to give his first major talk about his experience.

The importance of countering terror being a whole society issue and not just the remit of the police

Protect Duty Campaigner Figen Murray is the mother of Martyn Hett, who was killed in the terrorist attack at the Manchester Arena in May 2017, and is the force behind proposed legislation Martyn's Law that will hopefully form part of the Protect Duty.

Life as a hostage

On 29 May 2007, whilst working on a three-month posting in Iraq with an international IT consulting firm, a hundred Iraqi police officers from the Ministry of Interior entered the building and took Peter Moore and his four British guards, holding him hostage for over two and half years. Hear Peter tell his incredible story of what it's actually like to be held hostage.

“In 2020, we launched our most innovative, carefully designed drone radar to date; IRIS. The lightweight radar is built to meet the needs of the high-pressured world of defence security. It's created explicitly for uncompromising drone detection and tracking capability in an evolving market. IRIS even triggered the largest C-UAS contract in Robin's history.

Now, a year on, we're delighted to reach another milestone in bringing our newest drone radar to UK shores, and eagerly anticipate sharing it with the attendees of  International Security Expo. Come and find us to learn what makes IRIS – and Robin – special.”
