Hello,

ICYMI, the new government’s Digital Information and Smart Data Bill is set to transform the healthcare sector. As financial pressures and public expectations for connected services continue to rise, this Bill will provide the framework for you to leverage private sector innovation to streamline processes and enhance health service delivery.

Notably for healthcare providers, policy around Smart Data and Digital Wallets brings significant opportunities to:

Connect data siloes to provide seamless care, and make smart decisions faster using accurate information.
Utilise data you’re already collecting to enhance and personalise services, in an ethical and secure way.
Where appropriate, give control of data back to users – reducing in-house management and enhancing public trust.

What Does Smart Data Mean for your organisation?

Smart Data schemes allow individuals to securely share their data with authorised third-party providers (like your organisation) who can then enhance and personalise services.

SafeGuarden by CDD Services is a practical example, facilitating community-based data sharing and empowering individuals to reuse identity wallets across multiple organisations. For instance, an NHS trust operates a SafeGuarden scheme to quickly mobilise healthcare workers across multiple hospitals – without the delay of revalidating credentials and going through the pre-employment screening process multiple times. All while allowing the workers to maintain control over, and update, their own personal data.

The Bill is poised to drive innovation across the UK, aligning with EU and other international frameworks. This legislation provides an opportunity for health services to enhance internal and public facing services in a trusted and cost-effective way.Find out how at cdd.services/smart-data
